5 Values

5 Values

We hold 5 values that help direct the atmosphere of our center.

These values are:

Gratitude

We have all heard the benefits of the “attitude of gratitude.” At Family Friends, we try to teach this attitude right from the start. Saying thank you is the beginning of developing a grateful heart of appreciation for each other and all that comes to us in life.

We can often say, “Thank you.”

Helpfulness

An atmosphere of helping one another is one that we encourage in our center. The older children are eager to help the younger and we all contribute in things like clean-up and helping each other in completing tasks. As we encourage the children to help each other, they gain a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that is well deserved.

We encourage the children to say, “I will help you.”

Forgiveness

A challenging yet crucial value to introduce to children is forgiveness. A natural reaction for young children can be to look for revenge when another does something they don’t like. Through continuing to patiently teach children to let it go, we bring about a more positive environment even when things don´t go our way.

We show the children how to say, “That’s OK.”

Cooperation

The children in our program are encouraged always to cooperate with each other and with the teachers. This can be a challenge to the very young ages but with gentle reminding again and again, the students can develop a habit of sharing and being kind to one another.

We remind the children to say, “We can play together.”

Love

Love is a central theme through all of our activities. We freely speak of love and loving one another. The most important factor is the teacher’s love for each child. This in turn breeds a wonderful response of each child’s love for the teacher and each other. As we develop the love in our center together, we create a happy, healthy environment for learning and growing.

We teach the children to say, “I love you.”
